An IFWA thesis elected as best PhD thesis of the last five years in Benin

Dr Adin Bloukounon, a former IFWA PhD student at the University of Abomey Calavi in Benin, received the award of the best PhD thesis in agricultural sciences at the University in the period 2015-2020. The title of the thesis was: Quality of the substrates decomposed by fly larvae and their potential as soil amendment. The quality of the thesis is illustrated by the fact that all chapters have been published as five articles in international journals (see the list here).

The value of the award is 1’000’000 Fr CFA. Adin, presently agricultural officer at FAO, suggested to use the award to improve research on the use of black soldier fly rearing residue and on the development of a business model focusing on the agri-entrepreneur, the urban waste collector and the vegetable grower.

Congratulations Adin!
